Juries Launch Reception

10 October 2019

With entries for The British Arrows 2020 show now open, the British Arrows are delighted to announce Hollie Walker, Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy, as Chair of the British Arrows Jury, and Matthew Fone, owner of Riff Raff, as the Chair of the British Arrows Craft Jury.

At an event held last night at Framestore, hosted by Moore Kingston Smith, the British Arrows kicked off their 2020 awards with a drinks reception to welcome their new jury Chairs, jury members, sponsors and board members.

On chairing the 27 strong ARROWS jury made up of clients, agency and production experts, Hollie says she is honoured to be part of The British Arrows as they are highly respected by everyone in the industry, setting a benchmark for the year and allowing for a scan of the horizon.

Matthew Fone’s CRAFT jury of 26 will once again be split into agency, production, post and audio groups, with experts and artists from each discipline judging their own area of expertise. On being Chair, Matthew says, “You feel very proud that your peers think you have something to say and you can add to an event you love attending every year.”

Judging is set to take place early next year, and the Chairs are looking for the unexpected work that really catches the attention. When asked what they are looking for, “brave, insightful work from brands you wouldn’t expect,” says Hollie. “When a provocative idea and beautiful execution come together – that’s when the magic happens. It doesn't matter if it's smart, serious or silly, just as long as it moves you and makes you feel something in some way.”

Matthew adds, “it’s when you get a great creative idea – and usually they’re the simplest but they are the hardest to come up with! Then coupling that with something that is so well-crafted, and something you’ve never seen before and it makes a real impact.”
