I like the British Arrows Craft awards because I think that people who work in short form don't receive the acknowledgment they deserve. Commercials are unbelievably short, as we all know, and for that reason people don't give the medium the respect it deserves. The level of craftsmanship and creativity that goes into them is equal to any other form. The dedication and detail that is put into commercials is unbelievable, even when we all know that at the end of the day it will be a quick visual. The British Arrows acknowledges the creativity and talent that the people who work in short form have and it's a wonderful way of celebrating this by rewarding those individuals with a British Arrows Craft award.
"I have been designing costumes for about 20 years. I started with designing for commercials, which I very much love, and since then I have had the privilege to design for TV and film as well. I enjoy designing on short form very much as the time constraints are always very challenging, and I love how one has to think quick and fast to make things happen in a very short period of time. Also the fact that one is working with a lot of different directors and getting to understand their vision and the style in which they work is both fun and challenging. The variety of work that one gets in commercials is so diverse, from the simplest of jobs (which often are the most challenging) to the gems where I sit and draw the designs and get wonderful creations made. I am very passionate about what I do and have a huge love for fabric, colour, texture and craftsmanship."
