Global Head of Compositing, Double Negative
The craft of digital artistry breathes life in to storytellers' ideas.
Debbi Coleman is the Global Head of Compositing at DNEG, one of the world’s leading visual effects (VFX), animation and stereo conversion companies for feature film and television.
With more than 22 years’ experience and driven by a life-long passion for film, creativity and a desire to motivate and inspire others, Debbi successfully leads a global team of around 500 artists spread across five of DNEG’s nine studios.
Debbi started her VFX career in an entry level position. After graduating from university in 1995, she joined Cinesite, a London film studio, as a runner where she seized on opportunities to learn more about the emerging London VFX scene and develop her compositing skills. From there, Debbi moved to California where she worked as a digital artist for Tippett Studio.
Then in 2004, Debbi joined DNEG as a senior compositor. During 14 years with DNEG, she has built up an impressive filmography that includes work on many big Hollywood blockbusters, such as the Oscar-winning Inception, Batman Begins, Iron Man 2 and the Harry Potter films. Also, while working as DNEG’s Head of 2D, Debbi designed and implemented the company’s approach to artist management, which is still used today.
Now a senior manager at DNEG, Debbi continues to draw on her love of film and strong people focus, to actively champion diversity and inclusion within the creative and technical industries.
