Will Cohen

Director, String and Tins

I'm honoured to have been asked to help judge The British Arrows 2017 this year – dissecting the work to reveal the skill, passion and thought behind the scenes is what this is about for me – I can't wait to get started!

I think it's difficult for exceptional work to get the recognition it deserves and be heard above all the noise out there. Giving reverence to the best also helps the industry realise the level of detail and creative input involved in order to make work special.

Will is a co-founder of String and Tins, a team of sound designer / composers who have quickly grown to be recognised as one of the top creative sound companies in London since their inception in 2013.

From recording and touring as a singer and trombonist in his youth, Will joined Jungle Studios at the age of 21 where he worked his way up from a runner to studio engineer. After 7 years at Jungle he went freelance to pursue more music composition and location recording work alongside his sound design. While working freelance on the well-received the Guardian Three Little Pigs campaign with Sam Brock at BBH, they hatched a plan together to start String and Tins with Mike Bamford (ex. head of music at Jungle).

His work often crosses disciplines, from traditional sound design and original compositions, to field recording and on-set work / supervision. His work for clients including Audi, The Guardian and VUE Cinemas has been awarded at D&AD, Cannes Lions, The One Show, British Arrows, LIAs, Shots, Creative Circle, and the MASAs.
