Jason Watts

Global Creative Director, Freefolk

I am wholeheartedly thrilled to be on this years' The British Arrows 2017 CRAFT Jury.  Crafting is not a given, it's not the push of a button, it's the unwavering commitment to do the best work possible within the given boundaries. The industry needs to be really mindful of those parameters and hence we need to grab every chance we get to throw the spotlight on our industry's craftsmen and women to celebrate them, because as said, craft doesn't just happen.

Creative Director and Co-founder of Freefolk, Jason splits his time between the London and New York offices.

Highly ranked as one of the UK’s top ten flame artists, Jason has worked on numerous award-winning commercials, with renowned international directors and advertising agencies.

Building his career at The Mill, Jason gained a wealth of knowledge and worked with Directors such as Frank Budgen, Malcolm Venville, Daniel Barber, Ivan Bird on campaigns for BMW, Mercedes, Barnardos, Anti-Smoking, Levis, Ford, and the banned BBC Cliffhanger ident.

Co-founding Finish in 2003, the company quickly established as one of the UK’s top ten post production facilities for commercial production. Following the acquisition of Realise Studio in early 2016, the company rebranded to Freefolk and opened their New York studio.

Jason continues to lend his expertise on high-end projects and major campaigns, including O2, Sky, Warburton’s and Haig.
